<br />
Just a quick post to share an amazing, inspirational video my daughter, Megan, shared on her FB page. Praise God for this family and the values they've instilled in their children - how awesome!<br />
<br />
Click on the link below and hit the arrow to start it at the beginning. Let me know what you think and please feel free to share it! Have a blessed week!<br />

<br />
<br />
Hi, all!<br />
<br />
If any of you are still checking in, please accept my apologies for being gone for soooo long! Lots of life happens and priorities take over. There have been lots of changes in things here, but I hope to get back to one of my passions, creating art and, hopefully, a bit of inspiration with stamps.<br />
<br />
But, as blogs are also about personal travels, I will be posting occasional videos, messages, etc., that I feel God wants me to share with all of you. Here is one of them:<br />
<br />
Lately, I have been overwhelmed with the amount of violence on TV, in the news, in politics, on the streets, in the schools, and in homes. But, most importantly, I've been so aware of the disparities in the lives of the people whose paths I cross over the course of daily life and what my purpose may be in helping those in need live lives of joy instead of dispair. In so doing, I've gotten caught up on MY thoughts about it, not necessarily listening for God's words. Though I read Scripture or God-inspired inspirational material daily (well, almost daily), it's done often amidst the rush of getting to work, lunchtime at work, or late at night or early in the morning when I'm most tired and not able to focus as deeply as I should on what God is imparting.<br />
<br />
However, I know that God has a much greater purpose for my life than I can ever imagine for myself. I've realized lately that the passion I've had for many years - assisting those in the throes of poverty - is still underlying all of my thoughts, but I've lost a bit of direction.<br />
<br />
I used to listen often to the amazing sermons of Mike Slaughter, pastor of Ginghamsburg Church in Tipp City, Ohio, but had gotten away from that some time ago. Today, however, I looked for what was new on that site (ginghamsburg.org) and have had my spirit rejuvenated! Not only did I watch the sermon video of Mike Slaughter on "for the poor" (12/9/12), but I also received a HUGE message through the sermon of Nick Cunningham, an associate pastor at Ginghamsburg speaking on "calling" (12/23/12), which I have attached for your viewing and (hopefully) God-filled inspiration (sorry, not sure blogger takes vimeo videos, but click on the link and it will come on):<br />
<br />
<iframe src="<a href="http://player.vimeo.com/video/56262100">http://player.vimeo.com/video/56262100</a>" <br />
<br />
Isn't that an INCREDIBLE message! If you don't know what your purpose is, please listen to these two sermons that, to me, explain God's purpose for our lives so very well! As Scott Wilson, former pastor of my church, Johnson UMC in Norton, Ohio, so very well put it when we partnered with Ginghamsburg in their mission to provide for the people of Darfur, "It's not about me, and it's not about now." Our purpose on earth comes only through God - open your hearts and spirit to his calling for you today.<br />
<br />
God bless you all with love and peace in Christ to move forward into a giving, inspirational, successful 2013 for Him.<br />

<br />
It's been quite a long time and many things going on since I've posted - too many things that have taken my time away from my stamping and creative outlets. I hope to get back to that soon.<br />
<br />
However, in my blog hopping, I've come across a wonderful music video by, I believe, Jon Henninger, as a memorial to 9/11. I know, you've probably seen this and many others, but it is so important to remember and the images and music in this are some I just wanted to share here.<br />

Have a blessed day and week!<br />

<br />
I've been having computer problems lately, so have been going through some files to re-sort them. I found a few scanned cards that I had done prior to my blog being born, and wanted to share them with you. I always find it hard to do more masculine cards and am always looking online for ideas. Hopefully, these will give you some ideas for your guys.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-n4DB32wJF_Se8driNYUujS5BwImvXlN23ClO0QmbckPHPaZgC64aQZfHW2CSb4hWibSWDP6qVtc4MnCLT3pUCkJ5Gzf4vCWkfzPJYt4VFBRe07PPysJoGntVC9SrXIMW4Fp6jq2v9hM/s1600/LB610.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="148" width="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-n4DB32wJF_Se8driNYUujS5BwImvXlN23ClO0QmbckPHPaZgC64aQZfHW2CSb4hWibSWDP6qVtc4MnCLT3pUCkJ5Gzf4vCWkfzPJYt4VFBRe07PPysJoGntVC9SrXIMW4Fp6jq2v9hM/s200/LB610.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8585D3wl0msSSzgO35ob0lp9E6fbevezcb-YoI1KqnZLQuq9wOrrrSpSoUO0fJnsMurUFiKA_meAk8FxdC3a59V3Jg5DRPG5WSd45czFiZRMrpJqGNiFO4JaR99BR7y6wT3mwdUv0XzI/s1600/inside+LB610.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="159" width="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8585D3wl0msSSzgO35ob0lp9E6fbevezcb-YoI1KqnZLQuq9wOrrrSpSoUO0fJnsMurUFiKA_meAk8FxdC3a59V3Jg5DRPG5WSd45czFiZRMrpJqGNiFO4JaR99BR7y6wT3mwdUv0XzI/s200/inside+LB610.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb7NS0hQm7nHFWmFDPi3nxaVSbc7Pk6hdu15_gBg2bNWeroiFOzCauId-C4nE-d3XMTNQFMS6FaLiK5tye1KpijnEOqacTOxVEllWoTzKMgi2DXJvF-XMGYwLuyqE33pIhq9Yz48TEg0E/s1600/mascbd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="200" width="156" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb7NS0hQm7nHFWmFDPi3nxaVSbc7Pk6hdu15_gBg2bNWeroiFOzCauId-C4nE-d3XMTNQFMS6FaLiK5tye1KpijnEOqacTOxVEllWoTzKMgi2DXJvF-XMGYwLuyqE33pIhq9Yz48TEg0E/s200/mascbd.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The first card was done, obviously, for Father's Day. The base is SU Whisper White. The bg is Paper Studios from Hobby Lobby. The car and the hat on the inside are from Graphic 45; the car was popped up on the front for dimension. They were colored with Prismacolor pencils and some areas had silver metallic pen added for some pizzazz! The sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, and is one that my friend, Lana (<a href="http://blestwithstamps.blogspot.com">blestwithstamps.blogspot.com</a>), let me use (sorry, I don't remember the company), and the flourishes on either side are from SU's Noteworthy set.<br />
<br />
The second card has a card base of SU Very Vanilla, and the bg is a combination of papers from my stash. I used a Fancy Tags I label in Very Vanilla, and stamped the sentiment from an SU set. It was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and clear-embossed. Brads were added to give it some masculine bling.<br />
<br />
Very quick and easy cards. Hope you like them!<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by! <br />

<br />
Last week, my husband, Bruce, and I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary. I have been extremely blessed to have married the person whom I can only describe as my soulmate. We have our kindergarten picture together, grew up for a while a block from each other, were confirmed in the same class at church, started dating as juniors in high school (first time we actually knew each other existed), and have had a wonderful life together ever since. We reflected that day on the fact that we are also blessed with several very close friends who have been married as long, if not longer, in a time when marriage seems to have become passe. I certainly can't imagine my life without Bruce and pray God gives us many more years together.<br />
<br />
Here is the card I made for him (click on the picture for detail - sorry, my pictures seem to always be crooked because of the angle I have to work with):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUzwmhTzjiWiQ_q7iayPxhsRKoK0kHZYZ9AFO7ItJfHFz2czlXpnpkjhqN9NicR21cdQzDS3w4WgUqATHifaH_Il8Xgj9ljIOM-sySh2W1capdZ-qiypu0k4iIJYedCOWrMjLxQmx8ic0/s1600/blog1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="200" width="190" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUzwmhTzjiWiQ_q7iayPxhsRKoK0kHZYZ9AFO7ItJfHFz2czlXpnpkjhqN9NicR21cdQzDS3w4WgUqATHifaH_Il8Xgj9ljIOM-sySh2W1capdZ-qiypu0k4iIJYedCOWrMjLxQmx8ic0/s200/blog1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
and here's the inside (I covered over my little note to my hubby):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglEfpib6o0SoisFRNQ05tp89sQswoQtAD8NuXODYpZZespP2rsGgs203td71egSFcdTvkMPb3XO0zf6FFv39NKK4xI6lgDPPOMrFwEhmxZKoLC5dEAc98yPzRjWmQwi5arzGhPXEKQh0w/s1600/blog2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="200" width="108" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglEfpib6o0SoisFRNQ05tp89sQswoQtAD8NuXODYpZZespP2rsGgs203td71egSFcdTvkMPb3XO0zf6FFv39NKK4xI6lgDPPOMrFwEhmxZKoLC5dEAc98yPzRjWmQwi5arzGhPXEKQh0w/s200/blog2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The base is SU Vanilla cs cut out with a Labels 1 nestability. I covered the front of that with dp from Paper Studio, cut the same way. I stamped Tim Holtz images in Versafine Sepia on dp from Webster's Pages. The florals of that page were cut out, sponged in Tea Stain distress and mounted with pop dots. The clock face was sponged in Antique Linen and covered in Glossy Accents for dimension. The sentiment ("always" from Stampin' Up!) was stamped with Versafine Sepia on Whisper White, covered with Glossy Accents, grunged with the distress inks and mounted to the back of a Tim Holtz Idealogy piece. The frame was simply black paper cut with the Labels One nestie and glued around the edge of the card base.<br />
<br />
The inside, as you can see, was stamped again with the clock faces, birds and a sentiment from on of Tim's sets above - it's so fitting:<br />
<br />
"<i>Time is a companion that goes with us on the journey; it reminds us to cherish each moment because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived."<br />
<b></b></i><br />
The main sentiment below that is from The Stamp Barn (thanks, Lana!). <br />
<br />
Also, just wanted to point out my twin sweeties in the sidebar to the right. The shot of my granddaughters I call a "beauty shot". It was just a random picture I took as they were playing with the chains on a lamp near where I was sitting and where the camera happened to be. It came out beautifully, I think. Then, my Little Man (he truly is!) and his "Pop-Pop" were so sweet, just "talking" away - had to share it! Life is good!<br />
<br />
God's blessings on all of you this weekend and coming week. Please take some quiet time for yourself and to thank Him for all the gifts He has given you.<br />

<br />
Recently, I was asked to be a guest designer on a blog hop at Joan's Gardens. It went really well, and I thank all of you who commented on my card for all the very kind support!<br />
<br />
As the hop is over, I've edited this blog entry to just show the card I had entered for that hop:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig8Es1C7Q7imxhSwiMtsI1bAfYjVF2S4T4n5irjKm7HBU_JTz5dhxb7Od2rlPP-XMf-sP-PBhJv186lvz6DePsUdyfUIhxt2ds5xL6eIy9OJWdHnv4DtwSU2ARVEscl5X_w67Lg2J1zjo/s1600/spring+hop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="199" width="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig8Es1C7Q7imxhSwiMtsI1bAfYjVF2S4T4n5irjKm7HBU_JTz5dhxb7Od2rlPP-XMf-sP-PBhJv186lvz6DePsUdyfUIhxt2ds5xL6eIy9OJWdHnv4DtwSU2ARVEscl5X_w67Lg2J1zjo/s200/spring+hop.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The main blossom image is one of the images from <a href="http://joanscreations.blogspot.com/search/label/JustRite%20Stampers?updated-max=2010-06-06T13%3A59%3A00-04%3A00&max-results=20"><b>Justrite's Beautiful Blossoms </b></a>set. What a versatile set this is for all occasions! It was colored with Copics Y21 first, followed by layers of R11 for the petals, and YG63, YG67, and G99 for the leaves and stems. A sepia Pigma Micron pen was used for the "seed pod" in the middle and the blossom outline, and a glitter pen was used for bling. It is colored to mimic the flowers in the beautiful dp used throughout -<b>Graphic45's Once Upon a Springtime</b> paper pad. Tea Dye Distress Ink was used on all borders. <br />
<br />
The frame was cut with Spellbinders scalloped ovals large, and the main image is cut and embossed with Spellbinders classic ovals large. The label comes from the the Once Upon a Springtime paper pad and was mounted on a die from Fancy Tags by Spellbinders. Two antique brads flank the label. The blossoms, frame and label were popped up for dimension.<br />
<br />
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a blessed, sunny weekend!<br />

<br />
My friend, Lana (<a href="http://www.blestwithstamps.blogspot.com">www.blestwithstamps.blogspot.com</a>), led me to a very neat blog entry here <a href="http://vickichrisman.blogspot.com">http://vickichrisman.blogspot.com </a>and a terrific, inspirational video as found on <a href="http://www.kindovermatter.com/2011/02/what-warms-your-soul.html">http://www.kindovermatter.com/2011/02/what-warms-your-soul.html<br />

<iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/1360700" width="400" height="300" frameborder="0"></iframe><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/1360700">What warms your soul?</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/user612630">hailey bartholomew</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p><br />
I wanted to pass along those bits of inspiration to you. Check out each of the blogs, and leave some kind comments for each of the authors - it's always nice to know when the blogosphere likes what you've shared. Then, list everything you can think of that warms your soul. Share them with the world on your blog, Facebook page, wherever, and pass the love and warmth this brings to others, encouraging them to do the same – pass it forward. God certainly knows that with the bombardment of the news of the world, we could all use a moment or two of wonderful reverie and gratitude! Let others know how special you are and what's important to you! It can be truly wonderful for you and it may lift up and inspire someone else!<br />
<br />
My list:<br />
My twin granddaughters’ wonderful, deep belly laughs, their hands on my face when they want my undivided attention, and their amazingly insightful thoughts on the world around them; my husband’s hand on mine in the car while we’re driving somewhere; my eldest daughter’s terrific belly laugh (maybe that’s where the twins get theirs?) and her commitment to friends and family; my grandson’s smile, his dinosaur roar that comes from the bottom of his toes, and his sweet face, hands and feet when he sleeps; my youngest daughter’s laugh, sense of humor and dedication to her children; my son-in-law’s laugh (seeing a picture here?) and his gentle spirit; my future son-in-law’s remarkable talents as a handyman, and his love for my daughter and her children; my sweet Chloe dog, who is with me wherever I am in the house and knows when I need her nuzzle the most; my cats’ warmth as they snuggle in the crook of my knees on the couch; a beautiful blue, sunny sky and the snow on just one side of the trees out my door to the woods; the wonderful feeling when someone thanks me when I least expect it; making art with my stamping; the roof over my head, particularly when the curtains are drawn and it’s our own little world together, my hubby and me; listening to my husband play his drums (he’s really good!); little children running, playing and laughing, and particularly when they are so excited to tell you about their day; the undeniable knowledge and feel of the Presence of God wherever I am; soft jazz; a beautifully sung song; gardening and watching beautiful, flavorful things grow; memories of my mom’s beautiful white hair blowing in the breeze on a gorgeous, sunny day; sinking into a really warm, comfy bed when I’m too tired to keep my eyes open; camping on a foggy summer morning; reading blogs that inspire with words and art because you know they hold a small vision of the heart of the author/artist; a quiet moment alone with God in my church sanctuary; Psalm 121.<br />
<br />
These are just some of my heartwarmers – how about you?<br />
<br />
Have a blessed day!<br />

<br />
My wish for each of you this week is to have a very sweet, happy Valentine's Day with your loved one(s). <br />
<br />
My hubby and I celebrated it early. We had a Groupon coupon (if you haven't joined Groupon.com or Living Social, you absolutely have to try it! What savings!) to a local restaurant we hadn't tried for some time. We had a delicious meal and a very nice time just spending time together. Then, we had watched one of our twins granddaughters yesterday, and her mom invited us to dinner. Very nice time with her family, too. And, I actually sent probably the first adult Valentine to my eldest daughter (the first one I've handmade for her since she was a child) and her hubby and hope to spend some wonderful time with them next Sunday. Very nice times!<br />
<br />
Just wanted to share the card I made for my best friend, my husband of 39 years, but whom I've known since kindergarten. I believe God sends people into our lives that he knows we will need along our journey, and I am extremely blessed every day for my guy. He loves God, loves me and makes me laugh, and those are the most important qualities of a good man and a lasting marriage. My parents held hands and smooched all the time until my dad passed and, after, she always knew he was with her constantly. That was the type of marriage I always wanted and, fortunately, God's blessed me with that same type of relationship. I pray that you, too, will have such a relationship in your life!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkLZk6PzB6s_kXnjIY1-eW5zvkj9dMrlRnfnQKyh5eNUKeuF1Iaq71m7kE_fHgXv08HE3LlWvMgJBR4jWENN8gwO0Jh2ajKpcXYrJt4h-2kn4DoAef0BDJ5gVrmkARHE79tmyaMea_GGM/s1600/love+us1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="200" width="195" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkLZk6PzB6s_kXnjIY1-eW5zvkj9dMrlRnfnQKyh5eNUKeuF1Iaq71m7kE_fHgXv08HE3LlWvMgJBR4jWENN8gwO0Jh2ajKpcXYrJt4h-2kn4DoAef0BDJ5gVrmkARHE79tmyaMea_GGM/s200/love+us1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I actually cased this very neat card from Amber Hight (AmberDawn on SCS): <br />
<a href="http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1896108">http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1896108</a><br />
(Thanks for sharing and inspiring, Amber!) I'm submitting my version to Crazy 4 Challenges C4C74.<br />
<br />
I loved the image and that simple, yet meaningful, sentiment from My Favorite Things. Now, I love all things vintage, so this was a little stretch for me, but I think it turned out well - made my hubby smile, so that's good! SU Riding Hood Red and Basic Black were used for the cs. The striped paper was from a digital collection from ScrapGirls. I embossed the hearts from the stamp set with SU silver dp. The red heart was cut and embossed with the Swirls Cuttlebug ef. <br />
<br />
I am fairly new to Copics, so I followed Amber's excellent coloring idea (and hope I did her artwork justice!). Stickles were used to give the flapper dress a bit of glitz, as well as the button on the collar of the guy. Finally, rhinestone brads from SU were placed on each corner for a slight bit more bling.<br />
<br />
Hope you all have a wonderful, fill-your-heart-with-love kind of Valentine's Day!<br />
<br />

<br />
Thanks so much for stopping by. Are you keeping warm? Are you staying in and stamping up a storm (pun intended)? <br />
<br />
Well, I've been holed up working on reorganizing my craft room (not moving along very fast - just too much stuff!), stamping, and other things to keep busy. Our Daily Bread Designs<a href="http://www.ourdailybreaddesignsblog.blogspot.com"></a> is having a challenge entitled "the blues," that caught my eye, so here is my card for that challenge (ODBDSLC46). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmanhBq3NvEnAy66-T4oIIJEzskwIgE8Ug5EIgqYpbsHFfiaSly60lOIn5D9T8opKgNad1ib03W2aC_ZIxAP6g8kOi7EgYqdCSRlW7CfJ88fMWUb3pLWgaoZM1gBOGmLbnftFKTA3We80/s1600/beauty1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="200" width="190" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmanhBq3NvEnAy66-T4oIIJEzskwIgE8Ug5EIgqYpbsHFfiaSly60lOIn5D9T8opKgNad1ib03W2aC_ZIxAP6g8kOi7EgYqdCSRlW7CfJ88fMWUb3pLWgaoZM1gBOGmLbnftFKTA3We80/s200/beauty1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I believe most people (except maybe the winter skiers and slope owners) are done with snow this year, don't you? I know that the gray skies tend to make me more subdued, to say the least! That's what came to mind with this challenge - looking for sun (and bright hope) in the drabness of these snow-laden days. After all, when the sun shines through, we feel rejuvenated and happier, don't you agree? And that's what I look forward to through the ice and snow of these days. <br />
<br />
I've been really reflective lately (being indoors on cloudy days will do that to a person! HA!)and this challenge's timing gives me a chance to share some of that reflection through artwork and this blog, if you'll indulge me for a moment! With this card, the blue I used came from Basic Grey's Periphery paper (love this retired pad of paper!), which illustrates a swallow with its beak pointing up. That indicated to me the hope of a brighter day. Surrounding the main image are borders of bright, crisp white stamped with an EK Success border punch. The sentiment, from ODBD's set, "<a href="http://ourdailybreaddesigns.com/scripturecollection.html">Scripture Collection I</a>," was stamped on additional Periphery paper in SU Bordering Blue ink, and two antique brads from SU were applied. The image, the sentiment, and the butterflies were all popped up for dimension. <br />
<br />
The heart stamp is called "Music of Love" by Stampendous. Here, I wanted to capture the idea of hope, which the heart represents, and the sweet songs of the bird. The Martha Stewart punch was used to punch the butterflies from more Perifery paper, and each butterfly has a body of small pearls. They were placed to indicate movement upward toward the sun (which I know is still there and will be peeking through very soon!), and, again, is my interpretation of hope for a "brighter" day! All of this, then, was mounted on 6x6 white cardstock.<br />
<br />
Along, then, with hope for sunny days is the thought that God is always present through the storm and gray clouds of our lives. I think the poet and Quaker, John Greenleaf Whittier, expresses these thoughts well:<br />
<br />
“I pray for faith, I long to trust; I listen with my heart, and hear A Voice without a sound: 'Be just, Be true, be merciful, revere The Word within thee: God is near! 'A light to sky and earth unknown Pales all their lights: a mightier force Than theirs the powers of Nature own, And, to its goal as at its source, His Spirit moves the Universe. 'Believe and trust. Through stars and suns, Through life and death, through soul and sense, His wise, paternal purpose runs; The darkness of His providence Is star-lit with benign intents.' O joy supreme! I know the Voice Like none beside on earth or sea; Yea, more, O soul of mine, rejoice, By all that He requires of me, I know what God himself must be.... I fear no more. The clouded face Of Nature smiles; through all her things Of time and space and sense I trace The moving of the Spirit’s wings, And hear the song of hope she sings.”<br />
<br />
<b>If you've read this far, God bless you for your stamina and thanks so much for indulging me in my reverie. Remember, Punxatawney Phil says Spring in six weeks! The sun is coming! Keep warm and have faith!!! :-) <i></i></b>Kris Turnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14449746953493563117noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5717862756589429146.post-43897474418810591162011-01-19T19:50:00.000-08:002011-01-19T20:25:35.819-08:00Cherished ValentineHi!<br />
<br />
I hope you're having a great day! It's cloudy (again) and freezing rain outside - very good day to be in stamping! Sorry for the header here - working on fixing that!<br />
<br />
This card was completed for <a href="http://joanscreations.blogspot.com/2011/01/joans-gardens-2-weekly-challenge.html">Joan's Gardens </a> #2 weekly challenge (JG1311). The creation had to include a heart, bow, paper with a stripe, and some kind of embellishment.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvkchMhSX3QzFJNEuuoi_aWcUobULu53UYg4N0Nt54JV31GkaEpEL6VOOtRprDVRlCdTowM14YWL9M83-s4o-G7HA79hxGOlEuWDyualk_QAtYYX9SnW5qzMTCniArd6wjqCIPvjQuM80/s1600/valentine1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="200" width="156" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvkchMhSX3QzFJNEuuoi_aWcUobULu53UYg4N0Nt54JV31GkaEpEL6VOOtRprDVRlCdTowM14YWL9M83-s4o-G7HA79hxGOlEuWDyualk_QAtYYX9SnW5qzMTCniArd6wjqCIPvjQuM80/s200/valentine1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The base of the card is Bazill; the floral paper is Anna Griffin, and the striped paper is from my stash. My embellishment is the label using Fancy Tags by Spellbinders; the heart and label are popped up. The ribbon is a beautiful brown satin by Offray. The sentiment was computer generated.<br />
<br />
Well, we're expecting more snow, single-digit temps, and, I'm sure, more cloudy skies, so I plan on staying in and stamping and working on my craft room.<br />
<br />
Hope you all have a great day! Thanks for visiting!<br />
<br />

<br />
Thanks for checking in! It's nice and warm as long as I stay inside! The snow is beautiful - very gently falling on the woods, creating a gorgeous white wonderland out my back door.<br />
<br />
Well, we just celebrated our twin granddaughters' 5th birthday. How excited they were and what a great feeling to have them so excited to see Mom-mom and Pop-pop (or was it the gifts we were bringing? HA!). Our family all had a fun, wonderful time with the kids. I love to hear my Olivia and Taylor laugh - their laugh, by all who know them, is so hearty and full of joy!<br />
<br />
They love princesses, so I made them these stairstep cards for their birthdays. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUuI2OKzdCDZ9Z05Nl4x9AoPAvHRtWT4oDpSrQtbaInCJRO0wmjtSjneSkFW4WRY_5OXaD746NUpVldvnqGbzrP4jpRWn-NlZqvPI7QGZCYa8xtwIp5nBQ7UX2CxGrIUV35N3kQLivdbI/s1600/olivia+bd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="181" width="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUuI2OKzdCDZ9Z05Nl4x9AoPAvHRtWT4oDpSrQtbaInCJRO0wmjtSjneSkFW4WRY_5OXaD746NUpVldvnqGbzrP4jpRWn-NlZqvPI7QGZCYa8xtwIp5nBQ7UX2CxGrIUV35N3kQLivdbI/s200/olivia+bd.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA1xLVoKeWFSWO0LdjPnu-asNhOcSxE68DJ40EtzlOnjOkpDr4vLoT2WREaqmhzkeurvm1kNb5jzZvoD8Zg8yRgPxztlPaWGGLXGeXpbqQXr4g0679v7Fhmq2CMC8WMhwUBopd_c-Pys8/s1600/sidet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="180" width="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA1xLVoKeWFSWO0LdjPnu-asNhOcSxE68DJ40EtzlOnjOkpDr4vLoT2WREaqmhzkeurvm1kNb5jzZvoD8Zg8yRgPxztlPaWGGLXGeXpbqQXr4g0679v7Fhmq2CMC8WMhwUBopd_c-Pys8/s200/sidet.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The images were found online in a search for Disney princess clipart (sorry, not sure where - I searched for quite a while for the right images). Our girls have to have "the same, but different" (their words) things in everything they get - quite competitive little girls! So, as you can see, the clipart images are a bit different, but everything else on the cards is the same.<br />
<br />
I love stairstep cards, but had only done one once before. I had great fun putting these together. The paper is a combination of SU dp and cardstock. The castle is a digital image from Squigglefly, and the gorgeous unicorn is a digital from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff found in her Pretty Princess set at http://www.shophandmade.com/Item/6-758-H619QUU. As you may be able to see, the horses hooves, tail and mane as well as the flags on the castle are covered with diamond Stickles. The castle and the white in the horse's tail/mane were colored with Prismacolor pencils. The blue SU cs under the castle was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.<br />
<br />
The sentiment was created by me in Word, punched with an SU oval punch, and mounted on SU cardstock. The crown is a brad from Creative Imaginations that I purchased at Michael's.<br />
<br />
I am submitting Olivia's card to the <a href="http://http://squigglefly.blogspot.com/">Squigglefly's SFC8o "Put Your Heart Into It"</a> challenge.<br />
<br />
Have a great day!<br />

<br />
Just wanted to share an absolutely amazing card I received for Christmas from my friend, Lana. She is an incredibly talented artist, and this is just one of many examples you can see on her blog at <a href="http://www.blestwithstamps.blogspot.com">www.blestwithstamps.blogspot.com </a>or her SCS gallery at "stampin bear".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWXSjBQDpPOKCJtRKx6ncnCRqWBNAryCvVWITRQVpTyEczj24dbQZp6VoMJO7YHus4D6GWdD99c1x9pKfcqcKexWuQkh-3-9pmnZin-jOZ046ZYweGBejkLsAAVv3kErtCYP267Fu_E5E/s1600/lana+cd" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="150" width="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWXSjBQDpPOKCJtRKx6ncnCRqWBNAryCvVWITRQVpTyEczj24dbQZp6VoMJO7YHus4D6GWdD99c1x9pKfcqcKexWuQkh-3-9pmnZin-jOZ046ZYweGBejkLsAAVv3kErtCYP267Fu_E5E/s200/lana+cd" /></a></div><br />
The inside is as beautiful as the outside! Thank you so very, very much, Lana!<br />

<br />
Hope this finds you well and having had a blessed Christmas! Ready for a terrific new year? I know I am!<br />
<br />
Wanted to share a treat card box that I gave our praise team members (made 10 of them!) on Christmas Eve. They are so committed to God and to leading our congregation in wonderful musical worship, but they don't hear often enough just how blessed we are to have their amazing talent.<br />
<br />

Various sheets of SU's Deck the Halls dp were used for the front and the tags. The baby Jesus image is from Sugar Creek Hollow and was printed in sepia. The "I'll Play..." sentiment was stamped in Versamark and embossed in detail gold ep. <br />
<br />
The front image is a digi from Arty Pants digital stamps. The holly was colored with Copics and the image was distressed with Tea Stain and Walnut Stain distress inks. The window opening was cut out with a Spellbinders Fancy Tag and backed with acetate to hold the candy in!<br />
<br />
There are a few different versions of the tutorial for this treat box card on SCS, but I was blessed to receive the dimensions I used on these from Chanda Stehlik of www.onecraftymommy.com. Thanks so much, Chanda! The instructions worked perfectly!<br />
<br />
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a blessed week!<br />

</div><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Hi! Thanks for checking in today! Hope your day went well. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 11pt;">In all the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, as cliche as it may sound to some, we need to remember that this is the season to celebrate the amazing Gift that God gave to all of us. Sometime in the dark of night, a man brought a pregnant woman on a donkey to an inn. A birth was imminent, but the only room available to them was a small barn. A Child was born that night to a faithful young girl and the man she was to marry.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But, as she had been told by an angel, the child was God’s.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The baby’s first pillow in that hand-hewn trough was a bale of hay for the animals. The birth was announced by an angel, one of many, to a small band of shepherds. A star was placed in the heavens to guide three maji across hundreds of miles of sand dunes to that remote place so that honor and gifts could be bestowed on that little baby, the King of Kings. Born into poverty, amidst questionable heritage, raised to be a carpenter - this one small baby would change the world at that time and for all future generations. God came to us to save us from ourselves, for eternal life with Him. Jesus - God's Gift - born to teach love and to die on a cross so that we could have our sins removed and be one with Him throughout eternity. How wonderful and incredibly amazing is that?</span><br />

</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">This is a Christmas card I made for my friend, Lana (<a href="http://www.blestwithstamps.blogspot.com/">http://www.blestwithstamps.blogspot.com/</a>), and her husband, Al. The gorgeous image of the baby Jesus was drawn by a young girl in Poland for Sugar Creek Hollow (<a href="http://www.sugarcreekhollow.com/">http://www.sugarcreekhollow.com/</a>) digi stamps. The verse comes with the image. Isn't the image absolutely beautiful?! I chose to keep the card simple because Christ came to us not in pomp and circumstance, but as a humble servant. The frame is a digital image I found on the Internet from <a href="http://mudbayimages.blogspot.com">http://mudbayimages.blogspot.com</a>. I printed two copies of the frame, cut and mounted the inside portion only with pop dots on top of the main frame image for depth. The inside of the card includes a sentiment that I typed on the computer, cut it out with Spellbinders, sponged with distress ink, and layered it on top of some beautiful ribbon from a local paper warehouse, Hollo's. Underneath that is a portion of the digital paper from <a href="http://www.cuddlebeezscraps.com/">http://www.cuddlebeezscraps.com/</a> that I had used on the front. It is punched with an EK Success punch and layered on top of a punched piece of SU Vanilla. I sponged some Walnut Stain distress ink on the front of the card and on the papers inside.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I've been under the weather the last few days myself, so have been out of touch for the most part. However, I just got back online and noted that Melissa Bove at Creating from the Heart (<a href="http://keepsakesbymelissa.blogspot.com/">http://keepsakesbymelissa.blogspot.com/</a>) has a wonderful blog candy opportunity. Check it out! She has a very simple way to win one of two snowglobes she's made, one of which you can see below. It is AMAZING!!!! The detail is incredible. What a wonderful keepsake this will make.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

<br />
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I want to thank you all for taking the time to join me on this blogging journey. It is wonderful to "meet" new friends and be able to share a bit of my stamping passion and thoughts. God has blessed my family and me so greatly, and we are all so thankful!<br />
<br />
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, most importantly because of God's grace, His amazing artistry in the colors of the season, and in being able to have my family around me. We had our daughters and their families for an early breakfast before they had to go off to inlaws' houses for the main dinner. However, for the past several years, my husband and I have been "adopted" by my eldest daughter's husband's family (a large one!) and invited to one of their houses for a wonderful, large Thanksgiving feast! I miss making my turkey, but, boy does the Hershberger clan ever know how to make a true feast! Homemade pies "up the gump stump", as my dad used to say; turkey, ham, and all the fixins'; and then we all bring something to add to the selection. I took deviled eggs and a new recipe for a Holiday Broccoli Gratin that was gobbled up immediately (I was so thrilled they liked it)! I was so pleased to not have to cook much this year, as the oven we inherited when we downsized and moved to our current home is absolutely horrible for baking - it burns everything on the bottom if I'm not REALLY careful. The turkey in this oven would have probably been charcoal!!!! HA! Maybe Santa will bring a new oven?????? I can hope......<br />
Anyway, it was a very nice day - God is good!<br />
<br />
I'd like to share a card that I made recently that can be used for a number of occasions. I have left the inside blank so that I could use it as needed. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCoY1-q5TbPkidrqKikAJZbKpZlF8ilcRvD0Yv_Fgp7By96F6hLEI-F_MN6RMsrWY12yCZ27druokWIK5qYaDMwD6Oh-ngdfeHGtTjykZ0gkyb8D3zLNv1dZhuk_dF1UGvRrfR9mBlZaI/s1600/bw2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCoY1-q5TbPkidrqKikAJZbKpZlF8ilcRvD0Yv_Fgp7By96F6hLEI-F_MN6RMsrWY12yCZ27druokWIK5qYaDMwD6Oh-ngdfeHGtTjykZ0gkyb8D3zLNv1dZhuk_dF1UGvRrfR9mBlZaI/s320/bw2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>The incredible paper is from October Afternoon Thrift Shop by Cosmo Cricket on top of SU's Natural White cs. SU black grosgrain ribbon is in the middle topped by a piece of 60+-year-old white cotton lace that I inherited from my MIL's stash of lace. A white paper flower has a beautiful black and rhinestone button in the middle (again, a 60+-year-old button from the huge can of buttons my MIL had - they really knew how to make beautiful, artistic buttons then, didn't they?!). I absolutely love using the old with the new, don't you?<br />
<br />
While the picture above has a distinctly pink hue, it is really black and white. I tried and tried to get a better, more realistic picture, but, alas, it wasn't to be. I LOVE this paper! This is being entered in the following challenges:<br />
<br />
No Time To Stamp - ssnotime167 - Black Friday challenge (<a href="http://notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2010/11/25/stamp-simply-167-black-friday/">http://notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2010/11/25/stamp-simply-167-black-friday/</a>);<br />
and<br />
CCEE Challenge #CCEE1047 - using lace on the entry (<a href="http://www.cceestampers.blogspot.com/">http://www.cceestampers.blogspot.com/</a>).<br />

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a blessed weekend!<br />

<br />
Hey, thanks so much for stopping in today!<br />
<br />
Did you see the awesome beanie gift card tutorial on SCS this week? I had seen samples of this project some time ago, and thought they would be great for a church craft show that my friend, Lana (<a href="http://www.blestwithstamps.blogspot.com/">http://www.blestwithstamps.blogspot.com/</a>), and I would be doing. Here are some of the beanies we made....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfwi-OeCqDPbzlZbsixP5rh4p0TVtfN-rC4-8bj9_QaNKQ6yCOpiFwmDxc9LAWgSrTpx4OlHkKGcr6NVwCIP0IBR6D9NMxSSP1WwNQb3KHbor-1Aiy4B_Zt-dw3NnvlQ4c3afXGeYd0dY/s1600/hats.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfwi-OeCqDPbzlZbsixP5rh4p0TVtfN-rC4-8bj9_QaNKQ6yCOpiFwmDxc9LAWgSrTpx4OlHkKGcr6NVwCIP0IBR6D9NMxSSP1WwNQb3KHbor-1Aiy4B_Zt-dw3NnvlQ4c3afXGeYd0dY/s320/hats.jpg" width="249" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>I used several different designer papers from my Christmas stash, including Tinkering Ink's McTavish (great plaid!), Cosmos Cricket's Something Blue, and Stampin' Up! cardstock. The design ideas on these are endless. The one third down on the left even has some 60-year-old lace from my MIL's stash from when she was first married! Some have "topknots" for design and some are just a "skullcap"-type design. We made several school logo beanies, using Lana's custom SU stamp and a paw print stamp (thanks, bud!) for our awesome Grizzly teams!<br />
<br />
Thanks for visiting today! It's apparently the last warm day of our Indian Summer here in NE Ohio, so hubby and I are going out on our motorcycle for the last time before he puts the bike (very sadly) away for winter. Our bike isn't big, but it's absolutely wonderful to be able to ride with him and see the beautiful country and small towns around us, and to experience God's absolute majesty. We are truly blessed!<br />
<br />
I hope you have a blessed weekend! See you soon!Kris Turnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14449746953493563117noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5717862756589429146.post-52090516467252802552010-10-16T20:01:00.000-07:002010-10-16T20:01:04.045-07:00God's Artistry<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzrJRWqwFoiDgLVPo1fpmDo00cdvtnsqqpZiCECaczAnWMThexwqZP2bQzY85od24wUe8RzmZ8ej0tL4usKy_WpK-veZx318B4Le0fReZC6YrtXG9BXl7EQWaG-o2YEK2juABUJeMjgpk/s1600/015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzrJRWqwFoiDgLVPo1fpmDo00cdvtnsqqpZiCECaczAnWMThexwqZP2bQzY85od24wUe8RzmZ8ej0tL4usKy_WpK-veZx318B4Le0fReZC6YrtXG9BXl7EQWaG-o2YEK2juABUJeMjgpk/s200/015.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>Hi, all!<br />
<br />
Hope this finds you well. Glad you stopped by!<br />
<br />
Just wanted to share a couple of pictures of the trees out our back deck. We just moved to this house a few months ago, and are blessed to be on the edge of one of the most beautiful municipal parks. Over 40 acres of trees, a quite pond, several trails, wildlife, and loads of trees! I'm told that deer run by our house occasionally, but I haven't seen them yet. I coordinated and oversaw the planting of a community garden in the beautiful meadows area of this park last year (fed 80 families with over 350 pounds of veggies from that garden and another I oversaw at one of the area schools!), so this park is especially dear to my heart. We are blessed with these beautiful views each day - God is good!<br />

The next picture I've titled "Cathedral" because that's what it reminds me of. There is a path to the park next to our neighbor's house for the public to use. Lots of people take their dogs for walks in this park, and many take this route. When they return, the dogs seem so happy for their experience. Or, maybe it's a secret garden for wood nymphs and sprites - seems that way, particularly when the leaves move with the wind that sweeps through that valley. Who knows......? It could happen......! Happy Sunday!<br />
<br />
I just came across this beautiful video that I wanted to share with all of you.<br />
<br />
You know, whatever creative endeavor you choose to enjoy, it is YOUR art, the gift of song and expression that God placed in your heart before you were born. Whether it be writing, poetry, music in all its forms, painting, rubber stamping, baking, camera or film work - all is an expression of the gifts God so graciously provided. To deny them because "it's not good enough (for whom?)" or "no one will buy what I make" or others have derided your efforts, is to say that you're not worth it. What sour thinking that is, and it's definitely not what God planned for you.<br />
<br />
Reading the headlines today I realized how fearful this world can be if we allow it to enter deeply into our mind and soul. It is so difficult to fathom the evil, pain, and hurt that pervades the news, TV, web, and discussions. Our art takes us on a journey away from all of that, if even for a short time, into a world of vision, creativity, imagination, peace and prayer. Art can be serious, but often it is cathartic, calming, playful and joyful - and God wants us to enjoy the gifts He's given us. In so doing, we become better in ourselves, better for others, better in our outreach, better for Him, and better for the world.<br />
<br />
To all of you who express your art, God bless you! I salute and honor you and give you this beautiful video to enjoy. Have a wonderful, blessed week!<br />

Hope your day is going well!<br />
<br />
I needed to make a sympathy card for a friend who recently lost her father. I wanted something soothing, and felt that this dp and the stamps fit the bill.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDY7VCm80yK5FVEaXnDzcj5sLQIFiJfAA7t6JRiIUMh5ZqvMsJu5FwjMIq_VfDK2PNjJ5OjIbnbBfJZce4MM6522kP35epJdgChoPhbMWJ56Ftas2lQ_siGXkWYB0Xlhvudp4VGNtSl60/s1600/sympathy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDY7VCm80yK5FVEaXnDzcj5sLQIFiJfAA7t6JRiIUMh5ZqvMsJu5FwjMIq_VfDK2PNjJ5OjIbnbBfJZce4MM6522kP35epJdgChoPhbMWJ56Ftas2lQ_siGXkWYB0Xlhvudp4VGNtSl60/s200/sympathy.jpg" width="144" /></a></div> <br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"> The gorgeous dp is a piece I purchased at one of my lss. It is mounted on a base of SU Very Vanilla cs. The beautiful deep brown velvet ribbon is from Hobby Lobby. The sentiment (from F Stamps Designs - purchased at another lss) is stamped in Versamark on SU Very Vanilla, cut with Spellbinders Labels 8, and covered with a brown ep. It is sponged in SU Creamy Caramel, and is popped up on the ribbon for dimension. The lovely sparrow is stamped in Versamark and covered with a personal mix of SU verdigris and copper ep and popped up. You can see two more on the inside of the card below, as well. (I had a skip of the stamp, so used one of them to cover that "blurp!" After all, I've always used the old adage, "There's never a stamping mistake; only a change to embellish!" ) I used an EK Success punch for the dp on the inside (it really isn't that crooked IRL!). <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvS7hrxmm68qbLdGA14H9QgyDU0btmuUeOz6ASRUNX0a8OrP-9FNnluXx1YcgwUzX6zj5Oa-45FzGDNBtqhtLF9Z55icX71gRum1elcSepp5n-wM5YRnt1cZfhxZXKceO6Icp86hsBkIo/s1600/sympathyb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; height: 200px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; width: 150px;"><img border="0" height="200" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvS7hrxmm68qbLdGA14H9QgyDU0btmuUeOz6ASRUNX0a8OrP-9FNnluXx1YcgwUzX6zj5Oa-45FzGDNBtqhtLF9Z55icX71gRum1elcSepp5n-wM5YRnt1cZfhxZXKceO6Icp86hsBkIo/s200/sympathyb.jpg" width="147" /></a>It is never an easy thing to design a sympathy card, but I hope this brings a bit of comfort to my friend.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Since it is World Card Making Day, the first of the month, and there are SOOOO many challenges, I thought I would submit this to Our Daily Bread Designs' "wing it" challenge - <a href="http://ourdailybreaddesignsblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/odbdslc31-wing-it.html">ODBDSLC31</a>. I only have a few ODBD stamps, but I hope to remedy that soon! Thanks to Kelly for sharing her faith and beautiful artwork with all of us!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

<br />
Well the challenge bug has begun! Here is another card that I've done for the following challenges:<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhZledtFMLNz4uN97SOVniZoUNtTDRxeX5101lBHPWIoiQ5OOHQ59jetNcDEGiit-ugdA3CyTWm-PFz0L8K2Ua6fV6tYuFz1iuOVw_6ikHaUzx-5KV19IlWXrVlHicnQRtVHdIAb1LmMk/s1600/rustic+santa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhZledtFMLNz4uN97SOVniZoUNtTDRxeX5101lBHPWIoiQ5OOHQ59jetNcDEGiit-ugdA3CyTWm-PFz0L8K2Ua6fV6tYuFz1iuOVw_6ikHaUzx-5KV19IlWXrVlHicnQRtVHdIAb1LmMk/s200/rustic+santa.jpg" width="156" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I just love this Santa College from Rubber Stampede, don't you? My card stops at the dots on the side of the My Mind's Eye dp; the brown is just the background the card was propped up on.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">DP for both the red background and the green Labels 4 nestie are from last year's MME Christmas pack. Santa was stamped in Versafine Sepia Brown on SU Vanilla and cut with a smaller Labels 4 nestie, then shaded with three different distress inks. The "25" was cut out from the MME dp. It's very glittery IRL. It was backed with burgundy cs and popped up along with the Santa for dimension. My friend, Lana, gave me the "believe" metal tag from her stash, and the MS punch and green cs for the branches. The dp was sponged around the edges with Walnut Stain distress ink.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Thanks so much for looking! Have a great rest of the week!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I'm thrilled to introduce you to my new blog - the first I've done. I hope to have art and thoughts that will inspire you, make you happy, and give you peace. My first work that I would like to post is a card that I recently submitted for a few challenges - also my first attempt! What fun it was! I have the challenge bug, for sure, now! But, that's okay - it will get me creating and learning more, which I am truly excited to be able to do.<br />
<br />
The first challenge was on Sharon Johnson's blog <a href="http://notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/">http://notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/</a> for her Stamp Simply 158 challenge and for Crazy 4 Challenges' bling challenge at . <a href="http://crazy4challenges.blogspot.com/">http://crazy4challenges.blogspot.com/</a><br />
<br />
Here is the gorgeous inspiration picture Sharon posted: <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/files/2010/09/shanaiya_indian_bridal_2010-320-480.jpg" title="shanaiya_indian_bridal_2010-320-480.jpg"><img alt="shanaiya_indian_bridal_2010-320-480.jpg" height="200" src="http://notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/files/2010/09/shanaiya_indian_bridal_2010-320-480.jpg" width="133" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"></div> <br />
<div style="text-align: left;"></div>and here is my interpretation:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4SkQjB9uDuNQymxn2QDSSYfb-vATBDLENHELNAAI4Gh8VUV38r4i3WYT7SVP4HN-K0Xj0YQjmtj4b8R_GQcmPPHi1B3RPjOpv9_N_ca-5BnZleP5mMAa8zuSXBiOSNRrt4mvxgv-_or4/s1600/mariposa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4SkQjB9uDuNQymxn2QDSSYfb-vATBDLENHELNAAI4Gh8VUV38r4i3WYT7SVP4HN-K0Xj0YQjmtj4b8R_GQcmPPHi1B3RPjOpv9_N_ca-5BnZleP5mMAa8zuSXBiOSNRrt4mvxgv-_or4/s200/mariposa.jpg" width="193" /></a></div><br />
The items used on this were a base of Bazzill chocolate cardstock, SU copper metallic, and then DCWV Mariposa (isn't that paper pak gorgeous?!). The sentiment is retired SU in Versafine Vintage Sepia on SU Vanilla cs and cut out with Spellbinders Labels 13. The "bling" is from Michael's and the gold metallic with red rhinestone ribbon is from Hobby Lobby. A sheet of SU Vanilla was cut with the EK Success fleur de lis punch for the inside of the card. The butterflies and sentiment were popped up for dimension.<br />
<br />
Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a blessed week!<br />
<br />
Kris<br />
